Mara Beth Sommers![]() Mara Beth Sommers started her career as a law clerk to the Hon. Eugene P. Spellman, United States District Judge, Southern District of Florida. As an associate at Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Meyerson & Casey (which practiced under various predecessor and successor names), Mara was involved in securities-related matters both defending brokerage firms and representing plaintiffs pursuing claims against brokerage firms. As an associate at Finley, Kumble and later as a partner with McDermott, Will & Emery, Mara continued to handle securities cases and also specialized in accounting and legal malpractice defense matters. For the last twenty years, Mara has represented receivers and bankruptcy trustees as special counsel in pursuing claims against the former officers and directors of entities in bankruptcy and receivership, as well as malpractice claims against accountants, attorneys, and other professionals.
